Home in the Metro: MNL Boutique Hostel

It can be difficult to find a place of refuge in Metro Manila. After all, it’s a developing city with crowded streets, honking cars, rambunctious vendors screaming “dibidi!”, and riot bus rides.

But visitors who have had enough of Manila’s grind can rest knowing that somewhere in the Business District of this unpredictable city lies a new travel hostel that can make any visiting nomad feel at home.

The MNL Boutique Hostel recently opened its doors in Makati and it has already attracted a number of travelers. For one, it’s NEW and it manages to live up to its promise of giving its customers a comfortable yet backpacker-fun experience.

Outside, the hostel looks like a giant gift box that fell from the sky. It’s attractive and can easily catch the attention of a passerby.

The hostel’s interior setup is as colorful and stylish as its exterior walls. The welcome area displays modern yet comfortable furniture and the walls are adorned with colorful Filipino art.

For a good night’s sleep, the hostel offers affordable dormitory rooms and private rooms for the less adventurous. It also has a common bathroom and a kitchen that serves free breakfast.

The owners are managing the hostel themselves, assuring guests that everything is handled properly in terms of cleanliness and overall customer service. Their presence and interaction can make any guest “feel at home”.

I’ve stayed at 5-star hotels and even the worst shitholes and I can honestly say that this is one of the most notable hostels I’ve ever stayed at. It reminds me so much of the Travel Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia because it combines comfort and fun even in a small place.

The only downside to it would be the windowless rooms, but this is Metro Manila, there’s no such thing as a “good morning” view unless you’re waking up somewhere 500 feet above the ground.

I’d highly recommend MNL Boutique hostel for anyone who’s willing to dive into a wild and frenzy adventure in Metro Manila. Why? Because at the end of the day, you can be assured of a good rest.
